| What is a Blog:? |
|
Marketing blogs can be a great source of information. In fact, blogs are becoming more popular everyday. A blog (in other words, a web log) is a website where individuals write commentary on topics ranging from opinion to news, politics to business. Often, a blog contains copy, photos, videos, music and audio and may be written as part of a wider network of social media. At Millennium, we believe great voices attract great audiences. We are committed to supporting your company’s message and influence by connecting you to web-engaged consumers. Your partnership with Millennium allows us to do what we do best: make compelling media for your business. Blogs allow your customers to discover what you are all about from the people that really know you – these people include your staff of professionals and your satisfied customers. Blogs have emerged in recent years as one of the most rapidly expanding communications media in the United States. Nearly 22% of Americans – over sixty-five million – turn to blogs for entertainment, news, and information. This percentage represents a huge audience of potential customers for your company. Seventy-one percent of American adults use the internet every day, including 93% of Americans in households with an income over $75,000 a year and 91% of people with college educations. In this digital day-and-age, ignoring the role of online markets would mean eliminating a large area of opportunity for your business’ future growth. |

Why you need a Unique Selling Proposition |
| A unique selling proposition, or USP, is an individualized message that differentiates a company from its competition. It is not necessarily a slogan or catch phrase, but rather serves as a tool to help a company focus on what their business is all about. Why does a company need one? A USP provides the direction and central theme of all of a company’s marketing, advertising and branding efforts. For example, Burger King’s slogan is “Have It Your Way”, implying that Burger King’s top priority is customer satisfaction, regardless of what needs to be done to keep the customer happy. Through effective marketing strategies, a company can create an entire image around this UP. Consequently, if a potential customer is choosing between Burger King and a competitor, they may choose Burger King because they feel a sense of comfort in knowing that they will have it “their way”. The key to a successful UP is making an emotional connection with the customer, and the secret to long term success is living up to the expectations set forth by the UP. | |

The Value of Branding
|
| Branding is essential to the success of any business, product or service. Every industry is comprised of numerous businesses that all claim to provide the same or similar services or products. Branding allows a company to differentiate itself from its competition, as well as create a visual and conceptual identity for the company that resonates with its target audience. The branding of a company is usually centered around a USP and maintains a consistent look and feel in every aspect of external and internal communication. External aspects include everything from the company logo to letterhead, business cards, slogans, font styles, print ads, television and radio commercials, web-sites, mailers, and e-news blasts. Internally, it is important for all employees to embrace the desired brand of the company and utilize it in all their communications with the outside world. By developing and utilizing a successful brand, a company can maintain a competitive edge in their industry. |

| 11.09.07 | How public relations plays an important part in your overall strategy |
| A good public relations strategy, in addition to marketing and advertising, is essential to becoming well-known within an industry. Effective public relations can position the key executives in a company as expert opinion leaders in their market and related market sectors. Additionally, coverage in relevant media sources serves to constantly expose a company’s target market to its name, brand, USP and happenings within the firm. Intelligent articles or well-placed interviews in key publications lend credibility to upper management, and news coverage shows that a firm is active in their industry and community. A comprehensive public relations plan will also include whitepapers, case studies, and other types of informative literature to improve visibility and public knowledge about a company. In sum, the implementation of a public relations plan is a necessary and cost-effective way to improve a firm’s image and visibility in all relevant sectors of business. |
